Kijiji Canada Forum Etiquette

The Kijiji forums are open discussion boards for all Canadians to come and exchange information, express opinions and connect online. Spirited discussions are welcome; however we would like you to abide by some basic online rules to ensure that the Kijiji forums remain a fun and safe place to come to for everyone.

As a poster, you should:

1. Follow KIJIJI MODS and ADMIN staff instructions.

2. Not use the title “Kijiji” in your username for sole purpose of impersonating MODS or ADMIN.

3. Not make repetitive identical or close to identical posts, or otherwise take actions that interfere with the administration of Kijiji. Posters cannot advertise merchandise, auctions, services or commercial web sites, including offers to trade, "wanted" posts, or charitable solicitations in the discussion forums. Posting email content from private parties, item numbers or Web sites in the title of a threaded discussion is not allowed..

4. Not use a person’s real name or use any other information to identify a person, their exact location, or contact information in a post.

5. Not encourage others to violate KIJIJI FORUM ETIQUETTE/RULES. This includes behaviour that reflects a gang mentality or in troll behaviour as defined as follows:
Aka: TROLLS: someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response [1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

6. Not become abusive toward any other posters or Mods. This type of behaviour will result in the deletion of threads and possible banning of the poster. (We at Kijiji recognize the value of disagreement and lively debate, but insist on the individual's right to differing opinions.)

7. Not hijack a thread. Some topics are conducive to “chat” and we at Kijiji appreciate this, however malicious interruption of topics will not be tolerated.

8. Enter into certain volatile topics at your own risk. We have identified topics centering on religion, race, and war (as examples) as ones that often result in posts that violate forum rules. We hold the right to delete and edit if these violations occur.

9. Not use profanity, vulgarity, hate speech, or make hostile comments. This includes use of symbols or incomplete spelling swear words. Quoting a post containing any of the above will result in its removal as well as the original. Threads that show a complete disregard for this rule could be completely deleted.

10. Not include material (either graphics or text) that Kijiji deems obscene, pornographic, or adult in nature in their posts, will be asked to edit. This includes signatures.

11. Not use the Kijiji forums to engage in interpersonal disputes.

12. Not repost or discuss deleted posts, threads or warning letters. Neither are they permitted to discuss sanctioned users or users who are no longer registered.

13. Not create multiple accounts (Multis) for the purpose of engaging in negative postings, spamming, or behaviour that violates Kijiji rules.

Thank you for complying with these rules.

-Kijiji Team
