What is your take on who's better?? I have been with Rogers for 12 years and have had NOTHING but trouble. I have all my services with them: cable, internet, wireless and home phone and pay more than $275.00 for all.
Bell contacted me last week and offered me an amazing offer for home phone service with 5 features and high speed internet with 65 GB (as opposed to Rogers 60 GB), both for $67 per month for 2 years! I don't like "introductory rates" and was assured that once the 2 years was up, I would be given a fair and reasonable rate. On top of that, I also got satellite services for $63 per month including 6 packages and Babyfirst TV. In all, I am paying $130.00 for all their services and saving more than $100 per month by switching.
It seems like Rogers and Bell are always at war: advertisements, phone calls to switch over, etc., but in this competitive market, price and customer service are always the key factor, at least for me. I disliked Rogers "gimme" and often rude attitude and found Bell refreshing.

I have to say what I say to all Rogers people who show up at my house promising me the moon.
One day, I had some Rogers folks come to my door and offer me the moon - cable, internet, TV....the works...which I already had with Bell.
They also noticed the dish on my roof. They then proceeded to tell me that 85% of my neighbours had Rogers cable, which I know for a fact is not true because alot of my neighbours' dishes are out of sight from the road and they just perform their little "eyeball survey" to see what they can see - like trolling roofers. Mine just happens to be at the front of the house in plain view of the street.
I turned around and said "it is a free country they can have what they want."
They still pushed the deal that they provided a better service, to which I turned around and told them "trust me, there is a reason WHY there is a dish on my house!"
And yeah, Bell can get cantankerous at times...to which I say to them..."don't start making me treat you like Rogers" and then they offered me a credit on all my services with them!
Works every time...lol.
Oh, and BTW...my bill with the full TV package, 65 GB internet and HD and a phone/fax line...$200.00 monthly, taxes included, with the credits. The only thing I don't have with them is a long distance line - I have another private company look after that. |

finally something i know
Now rogers and bell are the 2 major competitors in Canada. Typically in Canada each city has 1 dominating - almost like they have some kind of alliance saying you take this city... i'll take this one.
For example, my house in toronto STILL for the past 20yrs Bell does NOT give service to. Like wth.. its TORONTO. Doesnt make sense.
Secondly, bell is satellite ( you get ppl getting illegal dishes from the states and programming it for free satellite), rogers has cable box (you get those ppl hotwiring your green box outside for free cable if you have an old house). There are also different packages available... especially if you have employee access to both systems, you can tailor your plan to what you need ( or in my case, my customers)
Now for cellphones:
To date, Rogers has the GSM ( Sim card capability) and Bell does not. BUT on the other hand, Bell gives out ridiculous corporate plans left right and center (again if you have employee access ). They also have VERY VERY cheap Data plans ( ie: 10$ on a samsung instinct/HTC touch for unlimited data vs Rogers 6GB cap for 30$ promo only).
Basically Rogers should die down in next september or so unless they step up with their corp plans

Couldn't agree more. It's scary that such a clumsy and unreliable company monopolize the entire communications industry. I've had experiences with slow service/connection, incompetent salespeople/troubleshooting reps and amateur oversights such as overcharging. |

MY TAKE is
Cable that has been "accidently connected" is the best
no high cable/satelite bills
no hd bills that are not hd 24hrs a day
hd channels being broadcasted in sd majority of the time
dont pay for free to air channels like ctv, global, city and pay
the big companies for the same channel just cuz its amplified |

Well I worked for Rogers, but I have Bell, none are better..LOL
For 2 cells, Internet, Homephone,Satelite I am paying about 320 a month, and I have nothing that great. My internet is basic, so is my home phone, my satelite is basic, but I added one extra theme pack, and my cell is a family package, and we never go over.
Bell will promiss you beautiful things, but it might be a promotion for 6 months-1 year, but you have a automatic contract with them if you do go for any of the promotions for a minimum of 2 years, meaning you'll start paying you regular fee and still be locked in a contract. I was promissed no contract on everything but my cell, but because I went with the Better choise bundle it automatically puts me in a 2 year.
Same with Rogers. With Rogers you get anywhere between 5-15% depending on the number of services. As soon as you agree, its an automatic 2 year contract, If you cancel within the 1st year it can be a charge of up to 100 dollars of each of your services, within the second year it can be up to 50 dollars.
If you really are thinking of cancelling, ask to speak to retention. Tell them what Bell is offering, and more then likely they'll match it for you.
None of our service providers are great. The USA have it much better then us. Sprint/Bell's rates are increditble compared to what we offer. |

Both Bell and Rogers are USELESS CORPORATIONS. They are giants
that are dying with the times, soon to be replaced For Good. Just like
newspapers and local television.
I had Rogers. After a disagreement with their contract, I started looking
for another internet provider. That is when I found...
TekSavvy (www.teksavvy.com)
I pay $30/mon ($31.45 with tax):
DSL internet
5mb down/800kb up
200 GB bandwidth/mon!!!
I had to purchase my own DSL modem, so I bought one from Craigslist
for $30. Which is great, new ones are like $75+. So now, I don't pay a
modem rental fee.
And also, you have to have home phone service from Bell to connect your
DSL. Or you can get "Cold-DSL" through TekSavvy, which means you
don't need a home phone from Bell -- "Cold-DSL" is an additional
$10/mon.
Very reliable. Their customer support is perfect -- no waiting, smart
people, they call back after they fix your problem. TekSavvy was also the
company that was leading the campaign against Bell -- when Bell began
throttling customers two/three years ago. TekSavvy is definitely a
company that cares about its customers.
Phone? I use Bell. Soon I'll get rid of that, just get "Cold-DSL" and I'll do
all my calling through Skype. Skype still doesn't sell Canadian phone
numbers, so I just get one at http://didww.com. So for $3/mon (Skype) +
$5/mon (didww) + $10/mon (Cold-DSL) = $18/mon, I get unlimited
calling across North-America using my computer and headset. Compared
to $38/mon with Bell for local calling only.
T.V.? I don't watch TV. I'm done paying to watch commercials. I'm done
paying to have someone else decide when I watch, and what. I get all
my entertainment from the internet, and OUTDOORS
Total: $49.45 for Phone (Unlimited North-America) + Internet (High-speed
and 200 GB bandwidth). |

AWESOME! I'll see how Bell goes and if that doesn't work, I'll switch yet again! |

Which is no skin off their butts. And they sure know how to make you feel like they're jumping through hoops. |

I didn't even read all the posts. I hate Bell. was with them for years, monolopy they had and gaudged us for decades.. NO thanks. I have Rogers on all my stuff.. t.v. computer, and phone and love there service.. Would never dream of going back to the gaudgers..
Only in the early past did they start offering something half decent for pricing, now that they have competition. Next let's see the Monolopy on Hyrdo disapear with a good competitior. |

All I can say is I wish you the best of luck.
But a friendly word of warning, be careful with Bell.
